Mind over Matter

After a very high risk and dangerous pregnancy,  for the safety of myself and my unborn son, I was placed on bed rest in my first trimester.

This was my first pregnancy, I was concerned and scared. I found comfort in food and pretty much ate my way through the pregnancy gaining almost 100 pounds. Although we took every precaution, my son was born 4 weeks early. Thankfully, I am happy to say, he is a very vibrant and healthy beautiful boy.

 

As someone in the fitness field this was not a normal weight for me. I weighed in at 200 pounds after giving birth.  It wasn't easy getting back into shape, but I needed to be healthy, not only for me, but for my newborn son. 


 Everyone has their own battles with weight gain, but I believe you can do anything you set your mind too. 


Join me, as I embark on a new season & new shows, to encourage you towards a healthier lifestyle, making healthier choices and setting realistic goals.

It all starts with you!

By covering the 8 dimensions of wellness my goal is to educate and inspire you to  a healthier wellness path by helping you understand how it all connects to our well being through segments, articles and blogs.  We travel through life like a ship on the sea. Every ship will be blown about by the wind and tossed by the waves, yet a stable and strong ship can sail with the winds and find direction through obstacles confident that it will reach its destination safely. We can set our course and stick to it, or we can be diverted to whatever and wherever any whim may take us. We can collapse when challenges come our way or embrace them and find a way through. We choose how we travel through life and how we are guided. We can be positive, successful, and satisfied along our course, or we can become negative, do the wrong thing and end up in a mess. Everyone makes mistakes and it is through our mistakes that we learn, gain experience, and are able to help one another along the way during our journey through life. 

What is Wellness?

Wellness is being in good physical and mental health. Because mental health and physical health are linked, problems in one area can impact the other. At the same time, improving your physical health can also benefit your mental health, and vice versa. It is important to make healthy choices for both your physical and mental well-being.Remember that wellness is not the absence of illness or stress. You can still strive for wellness even if you are experiencing these challenges in your life.

Darlene Is a USTA Certified Tennis Pro,  specializing in tennis strengthening.  Her 30 years of teaching experience includes her prestigious position as Head pro for The New York Health and Racket Club and Chef De Tennis for Club Mediteranian International, organizing and over seeing tennis and fitness programs in villages world wide.


Still a highly competitive Tennis player, Darlene continues to compete on a national level for USTA recently returning from Nationals in Indian wells and Orlando Florida.
